Seeking Funds

June 13, 2005 / by fredericksburgtexas

Is it me, or is borrowing money a pain in the ass. Whether it's from the bank, your parents or elsewhere, borrowing is a pain. First, there's the application. Can anyone really read all that fine print? Then comes the credit review.oouch! If you've even so much as thought about making a payment late, you're in trouble. I know there are those of you out there with "perfect credit". I guess the rest of us can take solace in the fact that you're more a target for identity theft than we are.

I love it when they ask for your account balances. If you maintain strong balances in checking and savings accounts, that's a plus for you! Well, if I had healthy balances, I wouldn't need the loan would I?

In my business, debt can be considered a good thing.it's called leverage, but when you cross over to the consumer world, "leverage" becomes an albatross around your neck. Forget that I always repay 100% of my debts (with interest, of course), the fact that I have debt becomes a bad thing. Go figure.

In large part I blame these credit card companies who made it seem easy to borrow money and easy to make minimum payments.Almost everyone I know, including me,has credit card debt to get rid of. Just when the ecomomy is worse, the c.c. companies raise the interest and really screw all of us. To add insult to injury, they keep sending credit card applications to everybody and their grandmother, wasting resources like trees for all the excess paper-wasting they do. If I had to do at all over I would have never bothered with them, and I bet everyone up to their ears in debt feel the same way

We have to take some responsibility as well. Too many people (including me) are living beyond their means. The CC companies are aiding and abetting this lifesyle. I learned my lesson the hard way that you have to learn to say "no" to the cc companies and "no" to spending what you don't have.
